Kappa Chapter’s Alumni Association: Accomplishments and Impact

The Kappa Chapter Alumni Association has accomplished a great deal with limited resources, making a significant impact on both the active chapter and its alumni. Here are some of the key achievements we’ve made possible:

-
Financial Support for Active Members: We’ve provided funding for travel, lodging, meals, and registration for regional training, chapter executives, and several annual conventions, allowing both active members and alumni advisors to attend.
-
Event Support: Funds have been provided to offset the costs of Rush, Off-Campus Events (Smoker), Alumni Weekend, and Founders' Day, enhancing the overall experience for both alumni and active members.
-
Re-chartering the Alumni Association: The required funds were raised to re-charter Kappa’s Alumni Association. After just nine months of operation, the alumni association was named the top new Pi Kappa Alpha Alumni Association Chapter, receiving recognition multiple times since.
-
Chapter Room Renovation: With the support of a select group of generous alumni, we raised the necessary funds to furnish the new Pike Chapter Room, creating a lasting space for future generations of Kappa Chapter brothers.
-
Confidential Financial Support: We’ve provided direct and confidential financial support for dues to key upperclassmen who otherwise would have had to withdraw from the fraternity and possibly the University.

Kappa Chapter’s Alumni Association: Key Achievements
Since 2015, your Alumni Association achieved the following milestones:

-
Pike University Scholarships: We funded 66 individual requests for brothers of Kappa Chapter to attend Pike University events, totaling nearly $20,000. These scholarships allowed 32 brothers to attend 21 different Pike University events, enhancing their leadership abilities and contributing to their personal and professional growth.
-
WCW & Neilson Scholarships: The KCAA has proudly awarded over $26,000 in scholarships, including the WCW & Neilson Scholarships, which support the academic success of Kappa Chapter members. These scholarships help offset rising membership dues, easing the financial burden on our brothers and enabling them to focus on their education.
-
Supporting Recruitment & Chapter Events: Through the generosity of alumni, we provided over $12,000 in funding for critical events like Recruitment, Off-Campus Events (Smoker), Alumni Weekend, and Founders' Day, strengthening the bonds within the brotherhood and ensuring future success.
-
Furnishing the Chapter Room: We raised over $9,000 for much-needed renovations of the Kappa Chapter Room, providing an essential space for future generations of brothers.

Did you know...
Since the founding of our Alumni Association in 2015, we started with a strong foundation, boasting 96 active members in our inaugural fiscal year. However, by FY 2018, membership numbers began to decline, with only 38 members renewing their dues and 4 new members joining.

A significant portion of the Alumni Association board’s efforts has been directed toward encouraging alumni to renew their membership. While this effort is important, it has taken considerable time away from focusing on expanding our services and meeting our goals of assisting the chapter.

As a result of this membership decline, the board has shifted its focus towards converting annual members into Sustaining Members. This change will help us increase our ability to provide greater support to the chapter and grow the Alumni Association. By transitioning to Sustaining Membership, we can ensure long-term stability and more effectively meet our goals, while also freeing up resources to explore new ideas and events for alumni and the chapter.
What is involved?

By becoming a Sustaining Member, you’ll enjoy the peace of mind that comes with automatic renewal of your Alumni Association membership each year, ensuring your continued support of the chapter. We will actively seek your input regarding events and activities that you, as a Sustaining Member, would like to participate in. You’ll have priority access to information about upcoming alumni events, ensuring you don’t miss out on opportunities—before they are made public or sell out.

Additionally, your Sustaining Membership includes a complimentary invitation to the Alumni Weekend Cocktail Hour, where you’ll have the chance to interact with fellow alumni, board members, and active Kappa Chapter members. This will be an excellent opportunity to ask questions and stay updated on alumni, chapter, and university developments.

We’re also working to expand the number of KCAA-sponsored events throughout the year, with more programming aimed at encouraging membership and enhancing the experience for all involved.

Already a Member and Want to Help More?

Great question! We've received this inquiry from several alumni, and we’ve created a dedicated page to share the various fundraising initiatives currently underway. We’re framing this as an opportunity to ask, "What would you like to do to support the chapter and/or the Alumni Association?" By doing so, we can ensure that everyone’s goals are met and that we continue to make a positive impact.
